1. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POE & ETHERNET SWITCH?

Ethernet switch is simple LAN switch connecting many computers with Ethernet port. Whereas PoE switch is Ethernet cum DC power. Normally this DC power is at 48 VDC.

2. WHAT IS POE?

POE is Power over Ethernet it means CAT6 cable will carry both data on Ethernet protocol and DC power normally at 48VDC.

3. WHAT IS BACKPLANE BANDWIDTH IN POE?

The backplane bandwidth is total data exchange capability of PoE switch.

4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MANAGED & UNMANAGED POE SWITCHES?

A managed switch allows control on network and all traffic moving through it. An unmanaged switch can not control.

5. CAN THE POE SWITCH BE USED AS ETHERNET SWITCH?

YES it can be used as Ethernet switch.

6. WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM DISTANCE AT WHICH POE CAN WORK?

100 Meter (250Meter for SSM-POE-2010-8E-125 & SSM-POE-2006-4E-65).

7. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SFP & RJ-45 PORT?

SFP is used for high speed over long distance and RJ45 is generally used for short distance.

8. WHAT ARE THE IEEE STANDARDS FOR POE?

IEEE standards for POE are IEEE802.3Af /AT

9. WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM OUTPUT WATTAGE PER PORT POE CAN DELIVER?

The maximum output wattage per port is 15.4 W.

10. WHAT ARE GIGA & NON GIGA PORTS IN POE?

Port that carries data at speed of 1000 Mbps is called Giga Port and port that carries Data at speed of 100 Mbps is called Non Giga Port
